Meet one of IAFC’s upcoming presenters, Daniela De Toia.   She is a fitness leader from Germany and a professional educator with the DEHAG ACADEMY in Europe.  Daniela holds a master’s degree from the German Sport University Cologne in physical education and she is looking forward to pursuing her doctorate degree with the topic, Lifestyle and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.  She has 10 years experience in the aquatic fitness industry and says her expertise includes everything from A-Z - aerobics to Zumba®.  She was voted best female German Aqua-Presenter in both 2006 and 2007.  

Daniela attended IAFC in 2009.  In 2010, she was slated to present at IAFC for the first time, but the volcanic eruption in Iceland shut down European air travel leaving her sorely disappointed at having to miss out on the conference.  But she got her chance a year later and she scored high on evaluations for her presenting debut at IAFC 2011.  Look for Daniela in the IAFC Monday night opening ceremony.  She will no doubt dazzle the crowd with her personal magnetism and her ability to entertain and educate. 

In addition to the Monday evening ceremony, Daniela will be teaching two sessions at IAFC.

Here is what she has to say about her sessions:

Sen Fi – Feel the Flow (land master class offered on Wednesday, May 16 at 8:30am)
Sensual Fighting is an Asian aerobic, mind and body “flow” workout in ¾ time, similar to the rhythm of the waltz. This workout will focus on a transition between strong and expressive as well as soft and sensuous movements. This land-based class can easily be adapted to the water.  A Hungarian psychologist, Csíkszentmihály, once said, “people are most happy when they are in a state of flow.”  Therefore, it is my aim to teach the participants the connection of power and tranquility.

Back Attack (aquatic master class offered on Saturday, May 19 at 12:30pm)
It is my goal to make the participants feel strength and power.  It is all about being balanced. They will come to the realization that everything is “BACK” to basics! It is not only about your back muscles but about your entire body working in harmony. Participants will push one another to their limits during this exhilarating 50-minute interval training session. With individual and collaborative Pilates and functional training, aquatic fanatics will learn how to discipline their back muscles.  

Daniela is looking forward to IAFC 2012.  “I love meeting people from all over the world, sharing experiences together, socializing and learning from each other.”  According to Daniela, the saying “life is not the amount of breaths you take, it´s the moments that take your breath away” describes how IAFC makes her feel each time she attends.

WEEKEND EVENTS:  Banner Year So Far!

Thanks to all who have registered for AEA events.  We are off to a banner start in 2012.  Seriously, we have seen some of the largest attendance at events in years.  Kudos to instructors who dedicate themselves to continuing education!  A well educated instructor provides a more well-rounded fitness experience for their students.  Live education (attending a workshop or conference) is by far the best way to accrue CECs.  Not only do you take away fresh ideas for your classes, but you also absorb some of the energy and teaching techniques from the leader you learn from. 

We want to take this moment to thank facility directors around the country for bringing AEA education to their regions.  And we of course want to salute all those instructors who attend AEA educational events - including and especially IAFC.  Your loyalty and support is deeply appreciated.
